editing the road

WITH IN THE FIRST FEW SCENES OF THE ROAD, THE FLORAL PATTERNS PROVIDE A CONTRAST WITH THE GREYSCALE EFFECT THAT DOMINATES THE WHOLE FILM POST OPENNING EXPOSITION SCENE. THE JUMP CUTS ARE TO SHOW PROGRESSION IN THE JOURNEY THAT THE MAN AND HIS SON ARE MAKING. THE GRAPHIC MATCH OF THE FLOWERS TO THE WOMAND JUMPER ALOMOST SYMBOLISES BEAUTY AND REBIRTH AS IT WILL BE EITHER IN THE SUMMER OR SPRING AND THAT SHOWS REBIRTH AS SHOWN BY THE WOMAN BEING PREGNANT. THE SOUND BRIDGE OF THE WATERFALL SHOWS THAT THEY ARE AKMOST BEING ONE WITH NATURE AND ALSO HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED FROM HEARING CARS HOWEVER IT IS ALSO TRANQUIL AND RESOLUTE FOR THE MAN AND HIS SON. ALSO THE NON DIAGETIC PIANO PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND IS SYMBOLIC OF SADNESS OR MAYBE ITS ALMOST LIKE A DREAMING SENSATION.  ALSO PROVIDING A ENIGMA TO THE SCENES THAT ONCE WAS A JOYUS FOR THE MAIN CHARACTERS HAS ALMOST TURNED INTO THE BLAND GREYSCALE LIFE THAT IS ALMOST TORTUROUS FOR THE MAIN CHARACTERS AND ANYONE WHOM OF WHICH IS LEFT ALIVE IN THIS TIME, 'EVERYTHING IS DYING' FURTHER PROVING THIS POINT MAKING ITS NO COINSCIDENCE THAT THIS WAS PLACED IN THE FILM.
THE SOUNDS THAT ARE USED IN THE SCENE AFTER THE REALLITY SCENES WHICH DEPICT THE HAPPY LIFE THAT THE FAMILY HAD, THE PIANO NON DIAGETIC SOUND SLOW INTO THE PICTURE WHICH ALMOST RESEMBLES A DREAM SEQUANCE THAT ALLOWS US AND THE CHARACTER TO THINK THAT THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY DESPITE THE FACT THAT IN THE NARRATION THAT STATES 'EVERYTHING IS DYING' WHICH ALSO MAY REFER TO THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS IN THE ROAD AS WE KNOW THE FATHER DIES IN THE END.
THE FRAMING OF THE SHOTS WITH IN THE ROAD ARE ASLO INTERESTIN AS THE SHOTS ARE NEVER TIGHT AROUND THE CHARACTER THEY ALMOST BLEED INTO THE BACKGROUND WHICH BEVELS THE AUDIENCE OF THE ENVIRONMENT THAT OF WHICH IS DEHYDRATED AND CRUMBLING AROUND THEM LIKE DRIED OUT SOIL AND DRIED OUT SOIL ALSO ISNT FERTILE ENOUGH TO GROW ANYTHING S IT ALMOST IS AN EXTENDED MATAPHOR TO SAY THAT LIFE WILL EVENTUALLY DIE OUT ONCE ALL OF THE RESOURCES ARE GONE. INTERESTINGLY ANOTHER THING THAT IS INTERESTING IN THE ROADS OPENNING SCENE IS THE FACT THAT THE CAMERAS ARE ALWAYS LOW ANGLED CLOSE UPS OF CHARACTERS WHICH THEORETICALLYSHOWS POWER HOWEVER, IN THES THEY ALWAYS AHVE SOMETHING ABOVE THEM THAT IS DANGER SUCH AS WHEN THEY ARE IN THE CAVE ABOVE THEIR HADS ARE LARGE ICICLES THAT CAN KILL ANYTHING WHICH CONNOTES THE FACT THAT SOMETHING RELATING TO DEATH WILL BE HANGING OVER THEM ON THE JOURNEY THEY HAVE.
